Awana & Teens
What is Awana and Teens Group?
Awana is fun with a purpose – to reach boys and girls with the Gospel of Christ to train them to serve Him.
It is centered around a weekly club night, consisting of 3 main parts. Game Time is packed with exciting team games played on the Awana Circle. Handbook Time is a small group time lead by trained adults and is focused on learning and applying God’s Word for daily living. Council Time includes worship, a Bible message and award recognition.
Cubbies is our club for preschoolers, ages 3-5. (Cubbies must be 3 by September 1st & be potty-trained. They must also be brought & picked up by a parent – sorry, no bus transportation for this age group.) Games, puppets, crafts, awards & plenty of other activities transform our preschool program into a lively experience where fun & learning go hand in hand.
Sparks is our club for children in kindergarten through 2nd grade.
Each week the children play fun age-appropriate games, hear a Bible message & work with their leaders in their handbooks.
Truth & Training (T & T) is our club for boys & girls in 3rd through 6th grade.
Weekly meetings expose them to the Gospel, Scripture memory, Bible study, awards, team-oriented games and tons of fun.
We also offer an evening of fun and learning for our teens in grades 7 through 12. Similar to Awana with a time of book learning, a time of Bible lessons & time on the game floor. Teens are encouraged to live a godly life, while training for the future.
Q: How Can I Get My Child Started in Awana?
A: Bring your child out to Wyebrook Baptist Church on Wednesday, September 9 to begin the new Awana year with others. Please take the time to fill out the registration form while you are there. A book and uniform order form will be available to take home to be returned later.
A child becomes an official member of his/her club after they finish a free entrance booklet. At that time they must purchase a uniform and book. The total cost for these items are as follows: Cubbies ($25), Sparks ($25), T & T ($25).
We ask that each clubber bring a quarter each week ($10 a year) to help curb the cost of other expenses, such as treats, etc. We want every child to participate in Awana. If the cost is more than your family can pay, we have payment plans & scholarships available. NO CHILD IS TURNED AWAY DUE TO THE LACK OF ABILITY TO PAY.
Our teen group ministry includes a time of fill in the blank Bible studies of Bible stories and application, a memory verse or two to memorize, and a game time of team games. Rewards of food items are earned for class work accomplished and we have a very high percentage of teens that accomplish their work each session. Question are asked by teens and we welcome that.
